Pathfinder Society: We Be Goblins, Too!
Limited Capacity seats available

Written by Richard Pett. The Licktoads, once the great and fierce goblin tribe in Brinestump Marsh, were defeated by human adventurers! All that remains of the tribe are its four goblin "heroes"—Reta Bigbad the fighter, Chuffy Lickwound the rogue, Poog the cleric of Zarongel, and Mogmurch the alchemist. Homeless and bored, they left their swampy homeland to join the neighboring goblin tribe, the Birdcrunchers. The good news is that the Birdcrunchers are willing to let the goblin heroes join their tribe. The better news is that the Birdcrunchers have heard of these four, and want one of them to become their new chieftain.  The bad news is that before the goblins can join, they'll need to endure a series of dangerous and humiliating tests. Very dangerous. Very humiliating. The worse news is that lately Birdcruncher chieftains have had really short lifespans—they're being killed by the pet fire-breathing boar of a local ogre who wants the Birdcruncher land as his own.  Can the four heroes of the now-dead Licktoad tribe save the Birdcrunchers and, in so doing, become their new leaders? Goblin characters provided, for your edification and enjoyment. Previous Pathfinder experience helpful, but not required.

The fire-haired, fierce archer heroine accidentally makes makes some trouble in the Scottish countryside, and takes care of it herself. The animation in Brave is absolutely astounding, setting the bar even higher. Funny, charming and refreshing. (this showing captioned)

The Idisi
LOCAL musical act

The Idisi is intent on singing and opening the world up to the sonic healing of the Divine Feminine.

We are an unconventional chorus of wyld womyn raising the vibrations of those we encounter through music of many cultures, faith practices, and life paths.

Much akin to Valkyries, The Idisi are a force to be reckoned with . In regards to our mission of healing, we endeavor to grow into being sonic priestesses, seeking to use the power of harmonics to open and heal.

We sing songs that give voice to many cultures of women around the world.

It's is the time for the Return of the Divine Feminine. Can you feel it?

Stand Up! Records presents Tongue In Geek Comedy Hour

Once again the fabulous Stand Up! Records brings you the best stand up comedy from all over at CONvergence's "Tongue In Geek Comedy Hour".

Hosted by Gus Lynch

Guest Comic: Robert Fones

Featured Comics: Patrick Bauer & Andy Erikson

Gus Lynch Bio

As a comedian, Gus has opened for some of the biggest names in comedy, including Harland Williams,  David Allen Drier, and Marc Maron.  As an actor he has appeared in over two dozen feature films and television shows, including Dark Angel, Halloween: Resurrection, and Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers.  As a producer he is one of the  co-creators of the LAUGH.ROCK.REPEAT, comedy and rock showcase, founded and organized the Akumal Comedy Festival  with Dan Schlissel and Matthew Olson, and is the guy responsible for booking the comics you'll see at CON this year  on the Mainstage, Harmonic CONvergence Stage, and The Stand Up! Records Party Room, so blame him.  This is his 4thd year  doing comedy at CON, and his 3rd year booking and producing stand it.  This is his favorite weekend of the year.

Patrick Bauer Bio

Patrick Bauer has his finger on the pulse of no community. Frustrated by an inability to fit in,
he uses humor to help people understand his myopic world. He has also been banned from as many comic book shops as he's worked at: Two.

Andy Erikson Bio

Andy Erikson was hit in the head by a bird as a kid, and that’s how she got her powers.
Soon after, she decided to be a comedian. Andy took first place at the Rooftop College Comedy Festival in 2009 and in 2010 she won the House of Comedy’s Funniest Person contest.
Her favorite thing about comedy is making friends.

Mr B, The Gentleman Rhymer- 2013 Featured Musical Performer

Making his North American debut AT CONvergence….. Mr B, The Gentleman Rhymer !!!

“There has  never been a rapper like Mr.B” Sunday Times

On a one-man mission to introduce Hip-Hop to the Queen’s English, Mr. B is delighted to present Chap-Hop.

Having spent the best part of a decade bringing some manners back to popular culture, this dopest of fellows will entertain and amuse you with his ingenious stylings. Aiming to dazzle with dignity, Mr. B takes to the stage with his Banjolele and stiff upper lip to perform ditties of pipe-smoking, high society, Cricket and sexual misadventure, as well as some more well-known pieces from the world of Hip-Hop, re-worked in true Chap-Hop fashion.

Mr.B has fast gained a reputation as an eloquent and entertaining live performer, playing recitals across the UK and into Johnny Continent for the past two years, from the Glastonbury Festival to club NME in Paris, from the club in Surrey to the Edinburgh fringe. His video ‘Chap-Hop history’ has received over half a million hits on youtube and an old skool rave medley entitled ‘Songs For Acid Edward’ has had props from Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll and SL2’s DJSlipmatt.

His music has been played by Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music and he has performed live on air for Scott Mills and Rob Da Bank on Radio 1. In the summer of 2010 he appeared on stage with DJ Yoda to perform one of Yoda’s favourites ‘Let Me Smoke My Pipe’, and he has also just guested on banjolele and vocals on US nerdcore rapper MC Frontalot’s album ‘Zero Day’. In addition, he recently remixed and rapped on Rizzle Kicks’ hit ‘When I Was A Youngster’. In 2011 he won ‘best hiphop act’ at the People’s Music Awards held at London’s Scala and in 2012 was nominated for no less than 5 Brighton Fringe Awards.

His latest long player ‘The Tweed Album’ was released in June 2012 and has been described as ‘A Psychedelic Chap-Hop masterpiece’. Mr.B is a true ‘festival favourite’ and was in the Guardian’s top ten things to see at last year’s Glastonbury.

Hoorah!

Probably Science Podcast -with 2013 Featured Comedian Matt Kirshen
Featured Comedian from across the pond, British bloke Matt Kirshen and guest hosts are professional comedians and  take you through this week in science, with a few special guests…. and probably with some incompetent scientists. And they will do it….Incompetently.

http://probablyscience.tumblr.com/

London born Matt Kirshen's precision wit has earned him an impressive reputation on the international comedy circuit. Most recently his appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paul Provenza’s Green Room, and as a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing has earned him a whole new host of fans in the United States and a surprising number of other countries worldwide.

He has also recorded a half-hour special for the World Stands Up, Comedy Central, and has acclaimed festival appearances at Montreal, Edinburgh, Kilkenny, Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Bermuda, and Amsterdam.

His debut CD, "I Guess We'll Never Know" was named in Punchline Magazine's top 10 albums of 2009 and his hit appearance at the 2008 Just For Laughs festival in Montreal resulted in no fewer than 4 of his gags appearing in the Montreal Gazette's round up of their best jokes of the fest.

Matt has appeared in and written for numerous television shows in the UK, including a charity gala featuring Jimmy Fallon, which resulted in Jimmy himself requesting Matt to open for him in a college tour to promote his new Late Night hosting slot.

His youthful looks disguise a veteran comic with almost a decade of experience, and a wealth of smart, funny and relatable material, making him a firm favorite with college audiences. While it's his prime-time NBC appearances that most American comedy fans will recognize him from, they are often surprised at the breadth and scope of his material, described by one reviewer as "intelligent, but with the emphasis firmly on the funny"

Pathfinder Society: Day of the Demon
Limited Capacity seats available

Written by Larry Wilhelm. The Blakros family, long an ally of the Pathfinder Society, has come into possession of a manor house in the imperial nation of Cheliax, where a once prominent noble family was known to practice diabolism before the Age of Lost Omens. The Pathfinders' task is simple: clear the abandoned manor of any remaining threats before the Blakroses move in. Unfortunately, the estate hasn't sat empty as long as the Blakroses think it has, and its recent inhabitants were anything but the devil-worshipers who originally built the manor. "Day of the Demon" is an exclusive adventure to be run only by 4-star Pathfinder Society GMs, Venture-Captain and Venture-Lieutenant campaign volunteers, and Paizo staff. Previous Pathfinder experience helpful, Adventure is suitable for character levels 3-7.

CAMELOT IS CRUMBLING

"The guy gives good aural." -Washington City Paper

Knights wielding rifles? Kevlar instead of plate mail? Internationally touring storyteller phillip andrew bennett low  samples some dark and stark, dense and intense stories, poems, and monologues from his Camelot Cycle of one-man shows!

These are the tales of the shadow that falls between vision and achievement; of the futility of political power; of a world of short-sighted ambition and crumbling ideals. A world, in other words, entirely unlike our own.

the great Luke Ski
REGIONAL musical act

At Dragon*Con 2004, Dr. Demento declared "the great Luke Ski" to be his radio program's "Most Requested Artist of the 21st Century". Since then, Luke held onto that title by having songs on "The Dr. Demento Show's" annual year-end "Funny 25" countdown of his most requested songs of the year for ten years in a row, including three of them at
#1 ("Peter Parker" 2002, "Stealing Like A Hobbit" 2003, "Snoopy The Dogg" 2011) and two of them at #2 ("You Don't Know Jack" 2006, "Too Much Stuff" 2009).

His song parodies, originals, stand-up and sketches about pop culture phenomena have make him a favorite performer at science-fiction and fandom conventions all across the midwest and beyond. He's released ten albums and a DVD over the past fifteen years, many of which feature collaborations and cameos by his fellow comedy musicians of the Funny Music Project (www.theFuMP.com).

His past hits amongst his fans include songs about Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Battlestar Galactica, Batman, Firefly, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, and Family Guy, with more recent hits about Disney buying Marvel, Twitter, Anime,
Bruce Campbell, The Big Bang Theory, Monty Python, and Snoopy. He is the musical jester of sci-fi, the emissary of rap dementia, the pimp of the geek nation, and a prominent bacon enthusiast.

So join the Dementia Revolution, and become a Luke Ski fan today! (www.thegreatLukeSki.com)

Notable Conventions Luke has performed at: San Diego Comic-Con, Star Wars Celebration, Dragon*Con, NASFIC, Creation's 40th Anniversary Star Trek Convention, GenCon Indy,
Origins, Nerdapalooza, and many more. He also is the chair of the comedy music track at MarsCon in the Twin Cities (marscondementia.com).

Stand Up! Records presents Matt Kirshen-2013 Featured Comedian

Ionosphere Casting Shadows
LOCAL musical act

"When does a guitar NOT sound like a guitar?

Ionosphere Casting Shadows is an ambient guitar project produced by aliensporebomb multi-instrumentalist Todd Madson as an outlet for his mostly beatless ambient and looped guitar drones. Instead of amped up freaked out guitar excursions you have slow, and sometimes quiet journeys to unexpected universes.  Which is to say we don't rule out the occasional guitar extravaganza.

Hear why audiences have called the live Ionosphere Casting Shadows experience "A one man Pink Floyd" and "trippy and spacey yet relaxing and meditative."

There are no overdubs, no preconcieved parts, no samples triggered - this is all live produced by ten fingers, two feet, six strings and a device called an stereo audio looper.  Everythng you hear is produced by electric guitar thru various signal processing units - you are not hearing synthesizers.  Enjoy the quieter side of the universe!  And sometimes not so quiet!

Guitarist Madson created the Ionosphere Casting Shadows project as a way to indulge his abiding interest in ambient music and making a guitar sound as unlike a guitar as possible.

ICS has made appearances at Convergence since 2008 and has appeared locally at The Eye of Horus bookstore, The St. Paul ArtCrawl, Art-a-Whirl, The Healing Loft, J&S Bean Factory, Bellaluna Boutique plus five appearances at the Shadows Faire in St. Paul and is celebrating the release of his work for the soundtrack to the film "Solveig: The Life and Art of Solveig Arneng Johnson" that has just had a showing at the Minneapolis Swedish Institute, Norwegian television, and numerous film festivals and showings at various universities around the country.

The Woman in Black
PG-13 - 2012 - 95 min.
dir. James Watkins w/Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer, Ciaran Hinds, Sophie Stuckey

Woman in Black is your standard horror film set up. We've got a run-down protagonist, a strange, unwelcoming village stocked with creepy locals and of course, a sprawling mansion that no one in their right mind would enter without contemplating if they were, in fact, going to be a run-down protagonist in a creepy village in a huge haunted house.

What sets this film apart is that even though it may feel like you've seen this movie a dozen times going in, you'll soon forget it. It does such a wonderful job sucking you in you'll forget all about ol' Amityville. Also - OMG LOOK ITS HARRY POTTER! (this showing captioned)

The idea that Shakespeare didn’t actually write the works attributed to him could be considered a tired trope, but this gorgeous costumed epic plays with that concept so well that you forgive the historical liberties taken for the sake of a truly engaging story. It’s sort of like a “What if...” comic for Shakespeare fans.

Ryman has caught the eye of some of the nation’s top comedians having opened  for the likes of Nick Swardson, Maria Bamford and Louie Anderson. He has performed in the Great American comedy Festival and most  recently the Akumal Comedy Festivall. Ryman is a StandUp! Records recording artist. Courtney McClean & The Dirty Curls
NEW LOCAL musical act!

Courtney McClean & The Dirty Curls is the brainchild of Courtney McLean, who suddenly one day decided she wanted to start a comedy/ erotica/ bluegrass band. Started in Minneapolis in the summer of 2009, Courtney and her Dirty Curls have a simple mission in mind: to create the dirtiest, funniest hillbilly music ever created.

Their style of music, dubbed “Naughtybilly” is a side-splitting brew of country, bluegrass, rock, and musical theater. Think Tenacious D meets Kristen Wiig meets Loretta Lynn. Their songs are decidedly explicit; hilariously tackling such themes as anal sex, erotic feelings for cousins, lackluster pillow talk, safe words, and even that weird crush feeling you get when you’re looking at a baby you know is going to grow up to be a devastatingly good-looking adult. They just wanna make you laugh, make you blush, and make you clap your hands. If you want to make love to their music, that’s cool too.

The band is now comprised of five members: lead singer Courtney McLean (also on banjo), Veldie (guitar and vocals), Anna (vocals, uke, and percussion), Lacey (percussion and vocals), and Kevin (bass). These ladies and dude pube come from extensive backgrounds in music, improvisation, theater, stand-up comedy, opera, a cappella, and storytelling. They infuse their live performances with a tongue-in-cheek theatrical flair that is blushingly impossible to resist.
